Mosaic Meditations PM -Summer Session 2

  • Creative Arts Center of Dallas 2360 Laughlin Dr Dallas, TX, 75228 United States (map)

Covering classical mosaic applications, techniques and designs.

This class is for beginners to advanced students. Students may choose to work from a study of a classical mosaic, create a mosaic mandala, or create a design of their own. The idea is to start with the basic principles of mosaic set out by the ancients and to examine those techniques in a simple, focused manner. Day 1 of the class will be a brief introduction to classical mosaics, tools, materials, adhesives and substrates. Students will choose a design to work with, look at samples of materials, choose colors and decide what mosaic application method they would prefer to focus on (direct or in-direct). As each student will vary in their choice of design, materials and substrates, the classroom will be a lively mix of opportunities for exponential learning. Just show up on the first day of class and enjoy the process. After the first class you will set about gathering tools, materials and adhesives for your project. You will be given a handout with resources for everything you need. Learn to work direct or indirect. We will be bringing our awareness to the beauty of a timeless art.
